ACTAI Firewall Policy
ACTAI Advisors is one of nine backers of the Future Caribbean Global AI Buildathon. ACTAI Advisors is also an early-stage advisory firm that takes equity in companies it advises. Lily, founder and CEO of Future Caribbean, is also a co-founder and CEO of ACTAI Advisors. This page sets out the firewall between these two roles.
The principle
The Buildathon does not exist to source deals for ACTAI. The Buildathon's purpose is to identify and accelerate strong AI deployment work in the Caribbean. ACTAI's involvement as a backer is supportive, not extractive.
The structural rules
ACTAI Advisors does not take equity in any Buildathon winner as a condition of, or in connection with, the alumni programme.
ACTAI Advisors does not engage commercially (advisory agreement, investment, equity grant, or paid engagement of any kind) with any Buildathon participant for at least six months following the announcement of winners on August 15, 2026.
After the six-month period, any ACTAI engagement with a Buildathon alumnus is established under a separate, arm's-length agreement, papered independently of the Buildathon, on terms negotiated between the parties without reference to confidential information disclosed during the event.
What this means in practice
The Future Caribbean alumni programme makes introductions to investors, deployment partners, advisors, and potential hires. These introductions are free, non-compensated, and do not depend on outcomes. ACTAI Advisors is not given preferential access to alumni for investment or advisory engagement.
